My process is conversational and collaborative with the wool and the found objects. I see my role in the creation process as an interpreter whose job it is to get out of the way so the piece can be birthed in the way it wants to be.

Create A Piece with Me.

It is an honor to design and co-create pieces with others, and I would love to make one for you. Some have given me sketches, others have told me a story and asked me to interpret it through felt-making.

Hi, Iā€™m Sara Palumbo.

Iā€™m a fiber artist and shamanic practitioner living and working in Bath, Maine. I grew up in New York City and moved to Maine with my husband in 2015. Soon after my move I embarked on my love journey with the art of felting and shamanism.

Words Into Wool

The Words into Wool Project kicked off during my Winter 2020 Artist Residency @ the Center for Maine Craft. This ongoing installation project is the joining of ancient practices of storytelling, felting and shamanism. It is an honoring of story, human origins, and how we become who we are.
